Team

The l’Hydroptère adventure has been made possible by the unconditional support pledged since 2005 by Thierry Lombard, Managing Partner of the firm of private bankers Lombard Odier, whose year of foundation – 1796 – is printed on l’Hydroptère.ch's mainsail.

The current team comprises: a design team of four engineers based in the Lausanne scientific center; a sporting team of five sailors, engineers, and technicians; an operational team overseeing project logistics and communications; and well-known service providers who already have several prestigious records under their belt.

All the members of the project share the same objective, which is to manage the challenges, enhance performance, push the boundaries of their capabilities, and foster innovation within a spirit of environmental responsibility.

An engineering graduate from Ecole Polytechnique (Paris) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Stéphane Dyen is also a high-level athlete who has won two French sailing championships, medaled in the European and world sailing championships, and was a French cycling trial champion. "Hydros allows me to apply state-of-the-art technology to new problems, in particular environmental challenges. It also offers me the opportunity to link sport with high technology; I was actually in training for the Olympics, but I broke off from that to devote myself to my studies. This project lets me combine these two activities at a very high level."
