Hydros Innovation and Corderie Henri Lancelin S.A.S.

A partnership built around the passion for technological innovation since 2008.

Founded in 1907, Lancelin has been developing high technology ropes for four generations and is one of today’s greatest references in ocean racing and yachting. In these fields, basic equipment such as ropes can turn into a decisive factor when seeking performance at the highest level.

To develop always more innovative rigging, Lancelin has been trusting Hydros Innovations’s nautical and maritime energy-efficiency researchers and pioneers for 8 years. Both teams have been working hand in hand to define solutions offering higher performance and reliability. They have equipped the hydrofoil catamaran Hydros.ch - current holder of Lake Geneva’s speed records in Switzerland - with Lancelin products for its running and standing rigging. "It is very important for us to be able to count on reliable, cutting-edge gear when going after a new record or sailing with guests aboard such a boat" says Daniel Schmäh, Hydros.ch skipper.

Like the hydrofoil catamaran, Hydros Innovation’s motor boat with retractable hydrofoils and C Class catamarans sailing 3 times faster than the wind are life-size laboratories developed by its engineers. Primarily used to implement and perfect their own solutions, these platforms also allow to test Lancelin’s rigging in the most demanding conditions.

"This kind of feedback is essential to better define what will be expected from tomorrow’s products and keep the technological innovation going" comments Nicolas Lancelin, CEO of the family business.

This year the rope factory has worked on developing a new range of anti-torsion rope, amongst the best and most efficient on the market. After numerous tests on various partner boats, it is finally being released to the public and will be presented at various upcoming European boat shows.
