LITTLE CUP : conférence de Presse de lancement le 30 Avril prochain

The LITTLE CUP or International C-Class Catamaran Championship will be held in Genevaon 12 to 19 September 2015.

Hydros will officially kick off this key fixture in the international sailing calendar with a press conference at the Société Nautique de Genève on Wednesday, 30 April from 11 a.m.
The last LITTLE CUP took place in September 2013 in Falmouth; the Class C governing body decided to entrust the organization of the 27th Championship to Hydros, which will open the gates ofLake Geneva to flying catamarans and their crews.

Right from when it first took place in 1961, this Championship – also known as the Little America's Cup after its big brother, theAmerica’s Cup – has symbolized fundamental research and ground-breaking technological development on a human scale. Tomorrow’s technologies are tested, compared, and approved during this competition. Year after year, this sporting challenge plays host to the biggest names in international sailing as well as their head designers in search of innovation.

The competition will take place on 12 to 19 September 2015 inGeneva. From 12 September, the championship village will be open to everyone interested in viewing these cutting-edge boats, whether they are avid fans or new to the scene. The unique aspect of this competition is the design of the yachts. The rules are actually very simple: the boats must be catamarans measuring a maximum of 7.62 x 4.20, with a sail surface area of no more than 27.8 m2. These carbon gems are steered by a crew of two, who need to be highly skilled at tightrope walking as well as sailing.

This competition attracts the international sailing elite. Some top sailors, such as Franck Cammas, last year’s winner, have already made their mark on this championship. Once again, the LITTLE CUP Geneva 2015 looks set to bring together the most prestigious sailors at a magnificent lake.
