HYDROS at the World Future Energy Summit 2015

International conference and business platform, the WFES provides energy stakeholders with unparalleled opportunities to meet with their peers, exchange technology, showcase innovations, share best practices and promote a better energy future.

The World Future Energy Summit (WFES) is the Middle East’s largest gathering on future energy and one that drives actionable solutions to the world’s biggest energy challenges. This eighth edition will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from the 19th to the 22nd of January and attract upwards of 35,000 policymakers, business leaders, experts, investors and academia from 170 countries.

HYDROS FOUNDATION conveys its message on a global scale

For the first time, HYDROS FOUNDATION will take part in this anchoring event of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which also includes the third International Water Summit and the second edition of EcoWASTE.

The WFES, which has fast emerged as one of the largest global gatherings on renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean technology, will be the first milestone of the Foundation’s 2015 agenda. HYDROS FOUNDATION, committed to raise awareness and support efficient-energy initiatives, will give a TechTalk entitled “Flying Boats: Leveraging The Power Of Technology And Innovation For Energy Efficiency” on January 19th. The Tech Talks are a fantastic opportunity for exhibitors, speakers and participants to discuss the latest technologies, policy developments, investment opportunities and projects.

"Hydros Foundation aims to educate and raise general awareness on energy efficiency issues. With a special focus on young generations, it supports initiatives that leverage the power of technology to make a better use of the energy we have at our disposal. To this extent, WFES 2015 is a great opportunity for our Foundation. It will allow us to connect with the most prominent decision makers, thought leaders and stakeholders in the field of innovation and clean energies and to promote our core programs, such as the HYDROcontest, the LITTLECUP (known as the little America’s Cup), the Efficient Energy Tour and the Efficient Energy Education Platform" explains Bibiana Jurado, HYDROS FOUNDATION, Secretary General.

In line with its strong will to put emphasis on the training of future generations, the Foundation will also run a workshop on maritime transport efficiency challenges, open to all engineering and architecture students in the United Arab Emirates and more broadly in the Middle East.

WFES, HYDROcontest, LITTLECUP and beyond

Besides this world summit, the programme of HYDROS FOUNDATION in 2015 will be extensive and varied. The HYDROcontest, first eco-friendly international student competition committed to improving shipping’s energy efficiency, will be back next July on Lake Geneva. The principle of this incubator remains the same: design the fastest boat that consumes the least energy. Some of the best engineering schools and universities around the globe are already hands on their prototypes and are determined to lead an efficient revolution in Maritime Transport, the fifth factor of global pollution.

Then, from the 12th to the 20th of September, the LITTLECUP will showcase the C Class, the world’s most efficient boats capable of sailing 3 times faster than the wind without any engine. Highly regarded as the America’s Cup Laboratory, this sailing World Championship features top sailors riding catamarans at the leading edge of technology. This 27th edition, sponsored by Hydros’ historic partner, the Swiss private bank Lombard Odier, will be hosted by the Société Nautique de Genève.

Hydros.ch, the legendary record hunter foiling catamaran, also has a substantial agenda ahead. The boat designed by HYDROS INNOVATION will keep on making people dream in 2015 as she will be at the very heart of the Efficient Energy Tour coorganized by HYDROS FOUNDATION, Swiss Sailing and the Gstaad Yacht Club. From April to September, the fastest catamaran of Lake Geneva will carry the core values of the Foundation throughout a series of records on the major Swiss lakes. In 2016 the Efficient Energy Tour will spread its wings worldwide.

In addition, the Foundation will be developing its Efficient Energy Education programs, with the set-up of an E-learning platform, the participation to many high-level conferences such as the Energy Efficiency Global Forum of Washington DC, and with the creation of new cultural and didactic tools and activities.

HYDROS INNOVATION asserts itself as a global Efficiency & Performance expert

The cutting edge engineering firm will also be in Abu Dhabi to exchange about technology, efficient applications, and to promote the Swiss know-how and its tradition of continuous innovation. HYDROS INNOVATION provides solutions to increase performance and reduce the consumption of all kinds of boats, considerably reducing costs while offering added value. The renowned Swiss company is specialized in the fields of dynamic simulation, boat optimization as well as aerodynamics and hydrodynamics flow computation.

Last fall, during the Cannes and Monaco yacht shows, HYDROS INNOVATION unveiled its scaled-down “HY-X” prototype, the first flying, hybrid and efficient yacht ever designed. This unique boat demonstrates its cleverness by concretely “flying above the water”, diminishing its environmental footprint while offering unparalleled performance and comfort. The “HY-X” met with a resounding positive response from professionals, enabling the company to demonstrate its expertise, references and experience.
