And the winner is... HYDROS.CH

The new holder of the three most prestigious Lake Geneva records and top performer for the year in all categories, HYDROS.CH – and its crew under skipper Daniel Schmäh – have made an indelible mark on the history of Swiss sailing.

On Thursday, 30 October, the now traditional Sailors Night was held at the Société Nautique de Genève. This outstanding evening, aimed at sailing, technology and speed enthusiasts, honours the best performances of the season and any new records, with SYZ & CO Leman Sailing Speed Records awards being presented.

The third of May 2014 was a momentous day for the flying catamaran. As well as smashing its own Ruban Bleu record by almost 15 minutes, HYDROS .CH won the kilometre race in the best ever time for the distance, with an average speed of 31.30 knots (Philip Käsermann was second with 24.95 knots), and the one-hour record of 24.22 knots (Jean-Pierre de Siebenthal was second with 20.17 knots).

With a historic time of 4 hours, 30 minutes and 15 seconds for the Ruban Bleu route (Geneva – Le Bouveret – Geneva), a theoretical distance of 67 miles, the 35-foot hydrofoil confirmed its supremacy on Lake Geneva. A great way for the fastest boat on the lake to finish the season.

The values of innovation, human challenge and sporting performance are what make HYDROS.CH and its team tick. Since the start, they have been supported by Thierry Lombard, a Managing Partner of Lombard Odier Group, and HYDROS INNOVATION, an engineering firm recognised for its dynamic simulation and its measurement of air and water flow.

On Saturday, 3 May 2014, the HYDROS.CH crew comprised Daniel Schmäh (skipper), Yves Courvoisier, Jérémie Lagarrigue, Guillaume Coyon and Guillaume Sangiardi. In addition to the talent of these engineers-cum-sailors, these exceptional performances are the result of years of technological development led by experts from the engineering firm HYDROS INNOVATION – Stéphane Dyen and Davy Moyon.
